Battlefield Tour - Normandy (Pointe du Hoc & Omaha Beach)

The day started with a visit to a German War Cemetery and then Pointe du Hoc.

Most of the day was spent at Omaha beach. Where it all went so wrong... and you can see why when standing on the beach.

It finished in the American War Cemetery.

Pointe du Hoc -

After departing Pointe du Hoc, it was off to the Museum at Omaha beach.

And then the beach itself. Sobering.

Battlefield Tour - Normandy (Utah Beach & American Airborne Ops)

We'd decided to spend a bit of coin and complete 3 days worth of a guided tour around the area.

We struck gold with the our guide - he was fantastic!

A sobering few days though.

The first day would be related to American Airborne op's on D Day and the landings at Utah Beach.

First stop - Saint Mere Eglise and the Airborne Museum

Then over to La Fiere bridge & Cauquigny

And then Utah beach...

Final stops - Brecourt Manor & Angoville au Plain. The story of medics Bob & Ken is amazing.
